The wasp that makes this gall has not yet been scientifically described. It is listed in Weld's Cynipid Galls of the Pacific Slope (1957, fig. 99) and in Ron Russo's Field Guide to Plant Galls of California and Other Western States (2007). An exit hole is visible in this gall. On Quercus vacciniifolia (huckleberry oak).
