Gall type #105

  • Some specimens that look like these, on Q. lobata, are in the Essig Museum and labeled as Andricus fimbrialis (= Andricus opertus). The Q. lobata galls are not as stringy as A. opertus galls on Q. berberidifolia. It's not clear if the Q. lobata galls at the Essig Museum are correctly identified, or if the somewhat different looking but similar galls on valley and scrub oaks are the same species (A. opertus).
